In early July our small northern city is filled with the honey-citrus fragrance of linden tree blossoms. Linden requires low temperature processes and our linden oil will be the first available that is produced without toxic solvents.
Tilia Essential Oils was founded by chemist Sonya Burrill who holds a master's degree in chemistry. They specialize in low temperature distillations for cold climate fragile essential oils. Our products are inspired by our Canadian climate and geography and are a direct reflection of the harsh and beautiful environment in which they thrive. We treat our oils with the gentle, specialized care they require and deserve.
We produce essential oils that thrive in our cold Canadian climate. These oils are often fragile and require special low temperature processes to ensure the aroma compounds don't break down. We produce our oils at temperatures between 40° and 80°C. Water is our solvent of choice. For very sensitive fragile essential oils we use a specialized technique that uses high pressure carbon dioxide, a green process known as supercritical CO2 extraction.
